Guidelines for Consigning

The minimum combined value for opening a consignment account is $2,000 for your collection, with a $200 minimum value per item. Single items with a value of $1,000 or more may also be consigned.

Auction Fees & Terms

Our commission for selling a consignment at auction is a flat rate:

15% of the first $10,000 of any single item and 10% of everything above $10,000.

The commission is all encompassing and includes insurance, cataloguing, storage, advertising, online services, photography and other miscellaneous auction costs.

PBA Galleries opens all items with a minimum bid of not less than one-half the low estimate in traditional gallery and online auctions.

There are no hidden charges.

Once property is accepted for auction, we will advise you of the best method of shipment to our auction house in San Francisco.

The Consignment Process
The time for the process of cataloguing your items to the actual auction day is approximately three months.
  1. Once your property has been accepted for auction, you mail it to PBA Galleries;
  2. Upon receipt of the property, we issue you a consignment agreement;
  3. An illustrated auction catalogue that includes descriptions of the property is mailed to you prior to the auction date. (Catalogues are also posted on our website.);
  4. Ten days after each auction, post-sale notification is mailed to you, announcing your results of sale;
  5. Consignor payment is made on funds received twenty banking days after the date of sale.
